International University of East Africa (IUEA) Vice Chancellor, Prof Emeka Akaezuwa, has confirmed that students will resume on-campus examinations for the end of Academic Year (2021/2022) beginning 25th April, 2022.
In the wake of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic, IUEA, just like many other education institutions, had to build a solid Online learning platform to ensure normal academic progress of its students even while in lockdown.
For two years, the platform has enabled students to attend class, submit course works, tests and attempt exams Online.
With Uganda’s economy now fully reopened, the university is set to resume for physical exams as well.
Prof Emeka made this announcement through a letter addressed to both On-campus and Online students, clarifying the exam modules and dates.
“I had sent out a communication at the beginning of the semester informing you that all exams will be done online. However, due to regulatory changes that came about as a result of the reopening of the economy, we have had to make a change in plans.” Prof Emeka stated in his letter.
According to the letter, all On-campus students must sit for exams physically. Whereas, online students are still hanging in balance as the University waits for approval from National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) to conduct online exams.
“If we do not have regulatory approval for the upcoming exams to be done online, then online students must do exams on campus,” Prof. Emeka noted.
This comes as good news to the lecturers as it will minimize examination malpractice, whereas students are left in panic.
Students who joined the University after 2019 will be sitting their very first on campus examination.
Meanwhile, the Faculty of Engineering Examinations have been scheduled to begin on 16th May, following lecturers’ plea for more time to complete the syllabus.
