The Academic Registrar of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Dr. Halima Wakabi Akbar has urged female students to believe in themselves if they want to achieve their dreams in life.
Dr Akbar made the remarks during International Women’s Day (IWD) 2022 celebrations held yesterday at Hamdan Girls High School in Mbale City.
“You need to have confidence in yourself. You must know that you can do your best in life if you have confidence,” She said.
Dr Akbar who is the first female Academic Registrar of IUIU tipped the students to use their presence at school wisely.
“You are among the very few people attending education. Opportunities come once so you need to work hard in your studies to achieve your academic dreams. When I was at the university, I made sure to work hard to achieve my dreams,” she told the students.
In his remarks, IUIU Guild President Kakande Hafdwar told the female students to overcome the setbacks that can compromise their academic journey.
The celebrations brought together students from the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Hamdan Girls High School, Mbale Secondary School, N’koma Secondary School and Nakaloke Islamic Secondary School.
The event was organized by the Islamic University Students Union in collaboration with Hamdan Girls High School. At the end of the event, best performers in the areas of poetry and drama were awarded.
