“The scholarship program is one of the programs lined up to support our University. We are who we are today because of the Islamic University in Uganda and we need to give back to the university. Through the association, we have lined up several programs to benefit the university,” Sekindi said.

In his remarks, Chairman University Council IUIU , His Excellency Faizo Al-Zanel hailed the university for providing quality education. The chairman urged the university to continue changing communities through quality education it provides.

The guest of honor at the Dinner was also an alumnus of IUIU , Right Honorable Rukia Nakadaama who is the current Third Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda.

The dinner that was held under the theme “Re-imagining and Re-thinking the Role of the Alumni Associations in University Transformation,” brought together hundreds alumni of IUIU. IUIU Alumni Association is an umbrella body that seeks to bring together all former students of the Islamic University in Uganda.

IUIU was established on 10th February, 1988 by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in collaboration with Government of Uganda to provide quality education to English speaking countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. In 1990 , the Parliament of Uganda enacted the Islamic University in Uganda Act formally establishing the university in Uganda.
