The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bauchi State University (BSU) from Nigeria in research development in form of training and research activities , and in academics.
The signing ceremony was held virtually between IUIU Rector Professor Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda and BSU Vice Chancellor Professor Auwul Uba.
In his remarks, Professor Gyagenda, said the collaboration is a form of mutual commitment in complementing each other’s duties and functions in the perspective of academic development.
BSU Vice Chancellor Professor Auwal Uba outlined the areas of collaboration, including research and innovation, exchange program, fellowship, conferences, capacity building, and academic programs such as Medicine and Surgery, and Agriculture.
The Vice-Chancellor pointed out that they intend to use IUIU’s expertise, such as research and development, to strengthen programs where they are still building capacity.
The IUIU Rector described the ceremony as an event that represented the ‘new normal’ with technology enabling people from different Universities to conduct business seamlessly.
Professor Gyagenda thanked BSU for trusting IUIU and expressing interest in partnering with the IUIU in giving back to and building capacity amongst Muslim communities.
