The 2020-2021 Guild President of Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU)- Females’ Campus Nantongo Bashira says she will introduce a tax society during her tenure in office.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Campus Bee , Nantongo says the tax society will increase opportunities for the students at the Kabojja based females campus.
“I want students of Islamic University In Uganda- Females’ Campus to be proud of their university despite being a single sex campus by extending opportunities to the students. This is to be done by introduction of the tax society,”
“It is an idea l got from the president of the tax society at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) . And the main aspect l liked about it is that they sensitise masses on the reasons as to why they should pay tax, and most importantly is that they work hand in hand with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and the students are at high chances of being recruited by the statutory coorperation,” she told Campus Bee.
Nantongo says she will also make sure that students are proactive in their studies and other co-curricular activities.
“Basically, we are all training to be responsible citizens of the state and this is a big training we have to endulge into. In other words, the society could open more opportunities to the institution,”
“Since it is a single sex university, obviously cooperation is vital. But then if these students are kept busy they obviously cooperate. Efforts will be put in clubs, sports, debates l think this will keep them going,” she says.
The IUIU-Females’ campus Guild President told Campus Bee that she will deliver because she has leadership skills.
“The most important thing is that I am innovative and also I fear no risks. I am God fearing and Honesty,” she says.
She has also urged the students of the Females campus to collaborate with the 2020-2021 Guild body.
“Leadership is not a simple task as it seems before people, But to differ from the rest , l call upon the students of the mighty Islamic University In Uganda Females’ campus to cooperate with the Guild body of 2020/2021. This is to elevate and heighten the university,” she says.
Nantongo , a second year Bachelor of Arts Education defeated Swahibah Nansubuga, a Bachelor of Public Administration student with 365 to 214 during elections held last Month.
