The Guild President of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Welunga Yusuf has donated pair of shoes to needy students.
Welunga told Campus Bee that he donated over 100 pair of shoes to the deserving students in Bugiri District in Busoga Sub Region, Eastern Uganda.
The IUIU Guild President says he thought of making the gesture because most students from upcountry regions go bear footed to schools yet they deserve shoes like urban students.
He says every African child deserves a best living standards which includes putting on shoes when going to school.
“As a pan Africanist, I care about my fellow Africans. A giving hand is more better than a begging hand. The children will be putting on the shoes when schools reopen,” he says told Campus Bee.
Welunga Yusuf says he has lined up a number of charitable works targeting upcountry students such as donating food, clothes and sanitary pads when schools reopen.
