The online loan support centre was yesterday officially launched at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU).
The Director of Operations at the Higher Education Students Financing Board (HESFB) Mr. Bbosa Kizito said Government is working tirelessly to make the loans benefit many needy students.
The Rector of IUIU Prof Ismail Gyagenda asked Higher Education Students’ Financing Board to increase the number of beneficiaries at the institution.
Prof Gyagenda said IUIU provides high-quality education. He said IUIU students also have the morals needed for the development of their respective countries.
The Academic Registrar of the Islamic University in Uganda Dr. Halima Wakabi Akbar commended Higher Education Students’ Financing Board for supporting students in Universities. Dr. Akbar said 40 IUIU students benefit from the loans.
The Resident City Commissioner of Mbale City Mr. Ahamada Washaki who is also a student of Islamic University in Uganda hails Government for always prioritizing education in the country.
Mr Washaki said the loan scheme helps needy students acquire higher education that helps them become productive citizens. The Student Loan Online Application Support Centre at the Islamic University in Uganda will help needy students in the Bugisu, Sebei, and Bugweri region to access Government loans easily.
