The Vice Rector (Academic Affairs) of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Dr. Jamil Serwanga has commended the Nigerian Government for the new batch of Technical Aid Corps (TAC) lecturers that the university has received from Nigerian universities to bridge the human resource gap in academics and obtain technical skills transfer.
Dr Serwanga made the remarks yesterday when officially receiving and welcoming the new lecturers at IUIU Main Campus in Mbale City.
The Vice Rector (AA) said IUIU is committed to support the lecturers throughout their stay in Uganda especially at Islamic University in Uganda.
“IUIU is committed to ensure that you stay here is enjoyable and fruitful. I am wishing you a better stay in Uganda,” Dr Serwanga said.
The new lecturers pledged to add value to the university in all departments.
The Nigerian government established the TAC in 1987 to serve as a “practical demonstration of South-South Cooperation”.
TAC is a voluntary international service scheme where highly skilled Nigerians volunteer to help offer academic services in developing countries for two years.
The program was designed to share Nigeria’s human resources with other African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) countries to strengthen their international relationship.
