The Rector of Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Dr Ahmad Kawesa Sengendo has been appointed the Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs in Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) replacing another Ugandan late Ambassador Ahmad Ssenyomo during OIC conference held last Sunday in Niger.
The university has confirmed the appointment in a statement.
According to a statement, the university has asked Dr Sengendo to use the opportunity to uplift the institution (IUIU) and all Muslims in Africa.
“We wish to congratulate our own (Rector) Dr. Ahmad Kawesa Sengendo upon his new appointment and deserved position as the Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs in OIC,”
“May Allah (God) make the new job to bring with more opportunities for you, the IUIU and Muslim Ummah,” reads a statement issued by the university.
In his acceptance speech, Dr Sengendo hails Government of Uganda for nominating him and African group for endorsing his nomination.
The IUIU Rector has promised to work diligently to fully serve the great organization, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Dr Ssengendo is a renowned Muslim scholar in Uganda ;
Ph.D (University of Kansas) , MSc.Ed., PGDE (Makerere University) , BSc. (Hons).
Dr Sengendo has replaced late Ambassador Ahmad Ssenyomo who passed on in September, 2020 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation is an organisation of Muslim countries in the world and its headquarters is in Jeddah , Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The organisation has four universities in the world namely Islamic University in Niger, Islamic University in Uganda, Islamic University of Technology in Bangladesh and International Islamic University in Malaysia.
