Rotary International, a global service organization whose purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and advance goodwill and peace around the world, on 22nd April, 2020 issued a certificate recognizing the establishment of Rotaract Club of Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU).
This was announced by Mr Charles Mugume, the Assistant District Rotaract Representative (ADRR), of Rotaract Club of Mbale Municipality.
The certificate signed by the President of Rotary International, Mark Daniel Maloney says the Rotaract Club of IUIU is now a member of Rotary International.
“Rotaract Club of IUIU, Islamic University In Uganda has been organised and has agreed, through its officers to be bound by the Rotaract Club Constitution and Bylaws and is now a duly admitted member of Rotary International,” reads part of statement on the certificate.
In its current establishment, this club now boasts of two sponsors: The Rotary Club of Mbale and The Rotary Club of Bweyogerere, Namboole, both of which are found in Uganda.
President Elect of Rotaract Club of IUIU, Bagaga Ibrahim has commended the development. The Rotaract Club of IUIU fellowships meet every Wednesday during the semester at the University’s main campus in Mbale.
Some of its activities for this semester have been halted due to the Presidential Directives issued on 18th March, 2020 which banned all public gatherings and closed all universities in a bid to fight the novel corona virus (COVID-19) disease.
