The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Main Campus has screened out a Guild Presidential Aspirant over indiscipline case, Campus Bee has learnt.
According to a statement issued by a IUIU Shura Council (Screening Committee), the post of Guild President had two aspirants but one was found with a disciplinary case.
“The Post of Guild President which had two candidates remained with only one candidate as one of them was disqualified due to indiscipline case hence creating a room of sole candidature to the opponent,” reads a statement signed by Dr Sulait Kabali, the Secretary Shura Council.
The (Shura Council) Screening Committee has recommended Ssekikofu Usama , a Bachelor of Education student as the only eligible Guild Presidential aspirant.
The committee has also recommended Adong Hawa (Bachelor of Social Science student ) for the post of Lady Vice Guild President and Kimuli Huzaifah (Bachelor of Laws student) on the post of Guild Speaker. These are also sole candidates.
“Other contestants were disqualified due to one reason or another which may be given to the candidate him/herself if need be,” reads a statement.
The Shura Council vets the competence of the guild aspirants in all elective posts. The council scrutinizes the academic performance and disciplinary graphs of the aspirants.
Meanwhile, the the university has called for additional nominations for all the guild positions namely Guild President, Lady Vice Guild President, Guild Speaker and Deputy Guild Speaker, Sports Minister and Deputy Sports Minister , Dawah Minister and Deputy Dawah Minister.
