A group of students’ leaders at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) under their foundation called Bugwere Support Foundation (BSFU) Uganda have donated assorted items to needy people at Bundega Village in Sironko District.
The Chairperson of the foundation Hafsa Hussein Ahmed who is the Deputy Prime Minister in Islamic University Students Union (IUSU) Government 2021-2022 at IUIU Main Campus in Mbale City has confirmed the development in an interview with Campus Bee.
“We have donated assorted items such as sugar, soap, salt and tea leaves to the needy people in Bundege Village in Sironko District. We donated the items to 15 families in the presence of the LC1 of the village,” Ahmed told Campus Bee.
Hafsa Hussein Ahmed says the organisation decided to make the donation because of the presence of many underprivileged people in the area.
“We decided to donate to Bundege Village because it’s one of areas we identitied that had high number of vulnerable elders who can’t now have the energy to reach special needs for themselves and most of them are single parents. Most of them are in their late 50s so they can’t work for themselves,” she said.
The foundation was established in 2020. Since its inception, the students through the foundation have made several donations in many areas of Eastern Uganda.
