Students of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) through their Guild body, the Islamic University Students’ Union (IUSU) on Friday, 1st May, 2020 donated foodstuffs to Journalists fighting the novel coronavirus.
Islamic University Students’ Union Guild President Yusuf Welunga says the students donated to the media houses through RDC of Mbale municipality.
“We donated rice, maize flour and banana to the media houses through Mbale district task force headed by RDC and our items were warmly welcomed and received by the Deputy RDC. We donated to NTV, NBS, Salt TV, Bukedde Olupapula, Step FM, IUIU FM, Open Gate FM, Signal FM, Big FM, Vision Group among other media houses,” he says.
He told Campus Bee that they opted for media houses because they are doing a great job in the fight against COVID-19.
“We did this because of the tremendous work done by the media such as updating the country and cautioning people about COVID-19 just to mention but a few,” Welunga told Campus Bee.
He further thanked health workers in the country for their effort to defeat COVID-19.
“We do thank the Uganda health workers and the President of the republic of Uganda for fighting COVID-19.
Students led by their Guild President and Guild officials contributed money to buy the food stuffs.
