The students of the Islamic university in Uganda (IUIU) have been tipped to plan for their marriage lives.
The remarks were made today by the university’s Dean of Students Dr Sulait Kabali during the 35th Annual Ramadhan Convention held at IUIU Main Campus in Mbale city.
According to Dr Kabali, the students must plan for their future spouses by looking at characteristics such as faithfulness, maturity, religious background of the spouse.
“You need to look for various characteristics in your spouse. Imagine, you as a lady and you have a man who can’t lead you in a prayer. What is that? You need to find a man who is good for you and the children,” Dr Kabali said.
The Dean of Students who presented on “Marriage Stability: Challenges for Post COVID-19 Muslim Families,” said after the pandemic students must be willing to be controlled by their parents/guardians despite prolong stay at home.
Dr Kabali has advised the students to weigh the essence of going back to school after the pandemic.
“All the students must go back to school after the pandemic. During the pandemic, some students began running businesses and some were impregnated, it is recommended for the students to come to go back to school and no one will chase them,” he said.
The 35th Annual Ramadhan Convention was held under the theme” Post COVID-19 Impact on the Muslim Society: Lessons and Plans.”
Other speakers at the event included IUIU Rector Professor Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, Vice Rector (Academic Affairs) Dr Jamil Serwanga, Academic Registrar, Dr Halima Wakabi Akbar and IUIU Females’ Campus Director Dr Madina Nabukeera.
