The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) has signed a contract with M/s Mantra Technologies Limited to supply ICT equipment and enhance network connectivity to the University at all the four IUIU campuses.
The university says the development will enhance online teaching that will will help international students learn from their respective countries.
According to information that Campus Bee has sourced, this is part of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Phase II project Enhancing the Learning Environment at IUIU that includes the following components: constructing the Faculty of Engineering, the Library, and a 500-bed Male Hostel; enhancing ICT capacity; providing Research Fund; improving Staff Capacity; and developing the IUIU Main Campus Master Plan.
“The overall beneficiaries will be the students, lecturers and the entire University staff, especially the capacity for expanded distance learning which will attract more students especially the international students who may study from the comfort of their home environment,” says the university.
The ICT Enhancement component will result in more efficiency in the overall ICT network of the University, providing content delivery, video conferencing facilities, and increasing the university online presence in teaching/learning, as well as Research and Innovation. This will definitely improve the IUIU brand.
The program is to benefit all IUIU campuses namely Main Campus in Mbale city, Females Campus’ in Wakiso district, Kampala Campus in Kampala city and Arua Campus in Arua city.
