The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) will have the best library in Uganda, the institution has disclosed.
According to the Vice Rector (Academic Affairs) of the institution Professor Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda the new Library which is under construction funded by Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at Main campus in Mbale will be the best in the country after completion.
“The new Library which is under construction and once completed it will be the best in the country,” he said.
Professor Gyagenda also said the institution will also open the Faculty of Engineering and Technology soon.
“We also have a financing agreement with Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to build a Faculty of Engineering and Technology on the Main Campus in the next two and three years,” he said.
According to Professor Gyagenda , the institution is also securing a grant from IDB to have a master plan at Main Campus.
“Before the end of this year, we shall also have a grant from IDB to do a master plan for Main Campus. Currently, we are developing the campus by one block at a time but now we are going to have a master plan so we know where to construct a new building,” he said.
Professor Gyagenda thanked Government of Uganda (GoU) for guaranteeing the loan from IDB.
“We need to thank Government of Uganda led by His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who guaranteed the loan from IDB to enable us do the development here on Main Campus,” he said.
IUIU has four campuses namely Main Campus in Mbale, Kampala Campus in Kibuli, Females’ Campus in Kabojja and Arua Campus in Arua.
