February’s edition of Big Meeting, that’s powered by The Singleton, delivered exactly what it promised and then some. Hosted at Thrones Lounge, every last Sunday of the month, the daytime party brought together music lovers, cocktail enthusiasts, and whisky-curious guests for an afternoon that blended fun with flavour.

The crowd soaked in electric performances from Iyanni, while DJ Kym Nick Dee, DJ Ivanni, and the Big Meeting DJs kept the party moving from the first pour to the final track. As always, the DIY cocktail experience remained a crowd favourite, giving guests the chance to mix their own drinks and enjoy whisky in a relaxed, social setting.

This time, however, the Big Meeting went deeper. Alongside the music and dancing, guests were introduced to a single malt whisky mentorship, led by Uganda Breweries Limited’s advocacy team. The session invited whisky lovers to slow down and understand what goes into a great single malt, from aroma and colour to texture and taste.

Expressions such as Talisker 10, Cragganmore 12, and Glenkinchie 12 took centre stage, each offering a different story and flavour profile. Guests learned how to nose whisky properly, swirl it under light to observe colour, and even add a drop of water to unlock hidden aromas. Notes of vanilla, fruit, smoke, and oak filled the air as conversations flowed from one glass to the next.

With World Bartender Day approaching, the mentorship also celebrated the people behind the bar. Melanie Kaita, alongside the advocacy team, highlighted the role bartenders play in shaping great drinking experiences, not just through mixing, but through knowledge and guidance.

By the time the music slowed and the glasses emptied, one thing was clear. February’s Big Meeting was more than a party. It was a moment where entertainment, education, and culture came together, reminding guests that whisky is best enjoyed when you take the time to savour it.
