When we talk of young techpreneurs in universities around, Makerere University’s Jabulon Alyao should perhaps be included in the discussion.
Jabulon Alyao, a third year student pursuing a Bachelor’s of science in software engineering at Makerere University has already established a brand in the tech industry.
The youthful innovator, only 27 years old, is the director of ALJEM Technologies – a company that has got him rubbing shoulders with Uganda’s ‘big fish’.
Jabulon’s ALJEM Technologies is known for it’s UVMAS (Vehicle Movement Authorization System), a system that many craved for as they struggled to get travel permits to move during the lockdown. UVMAS was used to issue travel licences by the Ministry of Works and Transport during the 2020 lockdown.
Jabulon Alyao has been recognized nationally with his international fame in sight, if he wins the FOYA international awards.
Having been earlier nominated for Totalenergies’ Startupper of the year awards, Jabulon Alyao is now set to battle it off in the FAYO (Founder of the Year Africa) awards where he has been nominated under the Techpreneur of the year category.
If he (Jabulon) triumphs in the FAYO national awards, he will represent Uganda in the same awards at an international level.
Jabulon Alyao sees his company (ALJEM) becoming the number one global innovator of digital and dynamic systems developed with professionalism in the next five years.
Well, it looks like the sky is the only limit for Jabulon Alyao -Makerere University’s tech fanatic.
