A jilted lover who stabbed Makerere University Business School (MUBS) student has been identified. Campus Bee can reliably report that the ex-lover, identified as Nyanzi Walakira is a student of Makerere University.
Nyanzi Walakira assaulted Eva Ejanga, a MUBS student on suspicion that she is dating another man. The incident happened on Monday when the suspect allegedly grabbed Ejanga and punched her severely before stabbing her with a knife.
Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, SP Patrick Onyango, said both Ejanga and Walakira sustained injuries in the scuffle and they were taken to China-Uganda Friendship Hospital in Naguru for treatment.
“Walakira sustained minor injuries and he was discharged within a short time. His alleged girlfriend is still in the hospital. We arrested Walakira on charges of attempted murder, because we suspect that his intention of going to MUBS from Makerere was perhaps to kill this girl,” SP Onyango said.
Police said statements had been recorded from eyewitnesses and they were waiting for Ms Ejanga’s health to improve and she gives an account on what transpired.
“Our investigations are still ongoing and we shall arraign this suspect in court to answer charges of attempted murder. He will tell court what drove him from Makerere up to MUBS to attack his alleged girlfriend,” SP Onyango said.
