Journalism students all over the country may have to buckle up and get ready to adjust to the fact that they might have longer years of education studies than expected.

This comes after the government decided to give them the same opportunity as LDC students. This is by introducing a post graduate journalism school to train them after their undergraduate studies.

Frank Tumwebaze, the minister for Information, ICT and Communication plans on having consultations with the media training institutions and also press association on the proposed post graduate school for journalism students. This is something he mentioned at the sixth conference of the East African Communications Association (EACA) at the Grand Global Hotel in Kampala on Friday.

This comes after he said of companies employing journalists on radio, television and print who haven’t gone through proper training in various institutions like the journalism department of Makerere.

The idea of opening a post graduate school for journalism was first introduced by Jim Muhwezi last year.
