The Makerere University administration has suspended students’ social activities including the Annual Bazaar, Freshers’ Ball and Porridge Nights, Campus Bee has learned. This is in a statement released by the Dean of Students, Winifred Kabumbuli.
According to the Dean of Students, the university management reached the decision after considering the violent events that ensued at the university on Friday night during the 2022 Freshers’ Ball. As such, they have said that the university will not tolerate such “incessant” behaviour that always results in injuries for students and damage to property.
“Violence has persisted at students’ events despite several warnings to students and their leaders. Management resolved that the Freshers’ Ball, Porridge Nights and Bazaar among other social events are suspended indefinitely and shall no longer be permitted at the university until further notice.” the Dean of Students concluded.
