Shocking news trickling in from Kyambogo University indicates that the Guild Cabinet Ministers have moved to impeach the Guild President Tundulu Jonathan from office.
In a letter addressed to the Guild Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kidega Brian, all the Cabinet Ministers in the 16th Guild Government have on Thursday 26th September assented their signatures to a letter ordering Tundulu Jonathan to resign from office within Seven (7) days lest the impeachment process begins.
“We hereby write this letter in one accord seeking immediate removal of Mr. Tundulu Jonathan as the Guild President as per Article 10, Clause 3 (a) because we have lost trust, faith and confidence in him and his ability to lead this great University,” the letter read in a part.
Among the 15 reasons advanced to justify his impeachment include, his neglect for students’ interests in favour of national politics, blockage of the Cabinet Ministers to meet top management to discuss students’ affairs, breaching the Guild constitution which is the uttermost tool of power, Mismanagement of Guild funds with regards to referring to Guild Money as “MY MONEY”, his maintenance of an illegal vetting committee and disrespect of the Guild House and Office of the Speaker.
The Guild Ministers also claim that Mr. Tundulu is indisciplined as he has multiple cases in the Disciplinary Committee, morally degraded and selfish. In an interesting line, it is alleged that he has gone as far as blocking the Information Minister from hiring an editor claiming that he wishes to put someone who will not seem political threat to him in that position.
The clock is ticking and Tundulu Jonathan is left with only 7 days to decide on whether to resign from his position or go through the harsh impeachment process by the Guild Council. However, it is evident that the odds are not in his favour as a big number of GRCs are against his narcissist behaviour.
