Kennedy Rwaboona Misindo and William Kururagire are the two concerned people who have dragged Kabale University to court for awarding honorary doctorates that are not accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE)
According to a complaint filed at Kabale High Court dated 23rd August 2017, the two accuse Kabale University of breaching the laws that govern public Universities by awarding fake degrees as well as teaching courses that are not legally accredited by NCHE.
The complainants also delivered proof that Kabale University awarded doctorate degrees to James Musinguzi Garuga, Peter Ndindirwe Mugyenyi, Festo Karwemera and Minister Philemon Mateke without accreditation from NCHE. Some of the allegedly unaccredited courses taught at Kabale University include Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Master of Medicine, Pediatrics and Child Health, Bachelors of Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Masters of Public Health, and Bachelors of Environmental Health Science.
According to Kabale university secretary, Canon Johnson Baryantuma Munono, he assured that this was not the first time they are being dragged to court and there is nothing to worry about.
