Kabale University is in mourning following the untimely death of Ms. Apolot Maureen Gloria, a final-year student who was just days away from her graduation.
According to a death announcement released by the university, Maureen was pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and was scheduled to graduate on October 31, 2025.
“We regret to announce the passing of our student Ms. Apolot Maureen Gloria. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends, and colleagues,” read the university statement.
The tragic news has left the Kabale University community in shock, with many describing Maureen as a hardworking, cheerful, and dedicated student whose academic journey was about to reach its peak.

Classmates and lecturers have expressed deep sorrow over her passing, remembering Maureen as a bright and determined young woman with a passion for agricultural innovation and community development.
“She was one of the most focused students in our department,” said a lecturer who preferred anonymity. “It’s heartbreaking that she didn’t live to see her graduation day.”
In their condolence message, Kabale University cited Psalm 34:18:
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
The university management has extended support to Maureen’s family during this difficult time and urged students to stand in solidarity with them.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be communicated in due course.
