Residents in Kabale spent the evening in shock on Tuesday after a Kabale University student identified as Sarah Naturinda was found dead in her hostel room.
The deceased was in her second academic year pursuing Bachelor of Arts with education – Literature in English
Preliminary police investigations on the incident indicate that a one Denis Arinaitwe has been arrested on suspicion of murdering the university student.
Further investigations also show that the same suspected murderer was earlier this week comprehended over killing one other person, Caroline Komuhangi – a police constable (who was his lover) in Kabale.
Residents now believe that the suspect (Arinaitwe) murdered the student before he turned his bitterness to Komuhangi, who he shot dead; resulting in loss of both ladies’ lives.
At press time, the University was yet to release a statement on the matter.
Friends to the late Naturinda have expressed a deep loss following her passing.
“She was my village-mate, Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord. And let the perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in eternal peace. Amen,” Richards Omudegede, a friend to the deceased wrote.
