When Universities and other academic institutions closed on 20th March 2020 following President Museveni’s directive on reducing the spread of COVID-19 among Ugandans, other institutions searched for ways of keeping in touch with their students in order to avoid a rush when they are re-opened. These included Kampala International University (KIU), Uganda Christan University (UCU) among others.
Basing on that, through a public statement by the Finance Department of KIU – Western campus, all KIU June 2020 Graduands were reminded to start preparing by paying the Graduation and other fees.
“You are requested to pay your graduation fees and all your pending bills to your nearest bank/agents so that you are cleared for graduation,” the statement reads.
While speaking to this website, Professor Patrick Kyamanywa, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Western Campus said that this was done to enable students get their testimonials to look for both internship and job opportunities.
“The post in reference is meant for students at the Western Campus especially those supposed to register for their East African region internships by mid-May; use their testimonials for admission to further training endeavors or seek job opportunities,” Prof Kyamanywa told our reporter.
“KIU is exploring modalities regarding hosting the graduation as soon as factors permit, including holding a virtual graduation. Details will be communicated in due course,” He added.
