The annual Kampala Restaurant Week which is the biggest restaurant showcase in the city is back with its fifth edition. The most loved food bonanza was officially launched yesterday at La Cabana Restaurant, Speke Apartments, Kololo.
The showcase runs from August 1 to August 10 with over 40 of the city’s best restaurants offering signature dishes in what has been dubbed the ‘Three Course Edition’.
The Kampala Restaurant Week is already causing a social media frenzy with Foodies expressing their anticipation for the mouth-watering meals on social media, charging their excitement to the scrumptious meal menus that have been teasing their taste buds online.
While speaking at the launch last evening, Cathy Twesigye, the Tusker Lite Brand Manager revealed that they (Tusker Lite) are offering a free drink to customers who buy meals at the selected partner restauarants around the city.
“We are glad to partner with the Kampala Restaurant Week once again. You already know that any meal goes down well when paired with an ice-cold Tusker Lite. We thank Kampala people for making Tusker Lite the beer of choice when having a meal, so, during the restaurant week, your first drink will be on us,” Twesigye said.
Tusker Lite is at the heart of the best food experiences in the country and the Kampala Restaurant Week serves as a climax of several food pairing offerings that have been ongoing in different restaurants.
The brand has also supported Women Vs Men cook-outs, Oktober fest, Koroga Festivals, Tokosa festival, food pairing in several outlets, the monthly UTAKE Meat Carnival that takes foodies on an East African culinary journey among others.
The food showcase will be an experience that will leave food lovers spoilt for choice with Casual Dining and Signature Dining restaurants providing three-course offerings with starters, main courses and desserts.
“The Kampala Restaurant Week is a great opportunity for Kampala’s finest restaurants to show off what they have to offer. This will be our fifth edition allowing over 40 restaurants great exposure while bringing a fun dining experience for food lovers,” said Philip Kalibwani, Business Development Manager at Pearl Guide, the showcase’s organizer.
An award ceremony will be held on August 12 to conclude the showcase. The ceremony will recognise restaurants with the “Best Dish,” “Outstanding Service” and “Overall top restaurant of the Week” voted for with a new system that allows the public to vote online. City chefs will be up for a run for their creativity whilst in the kitchen in order to be recognised at the end of the 10-day showcase.
