MTN marathon, the “Everywhere you go” network you’d mistake for NRM in these political days on Sunday held one of the biggest and most successful marathons of all time at Kololo independence grounds under the theme, “RUN FOR KAMPALA” whose funds will be used in the implementation of innovate, climate resilient, environment smart bio and toilet tech in some schools around Kampala.

There marathon with a participation of over 200,000 people who came from different countries including Kenya which as it has been on a daily gave us some medalists and few from the host country. The marathon was also attended by quite a number of dignitaries such as Mrs. Jenifer Musisi being the chief runner, I’d gladly say the event was a success.
However not even religion could stop participants as some were seen dressed in their hijabs while participating in the race.
And as usual the Uganda police was also there to keep law and order and of course never forgot their latest tactic of filming criminal incidences and other rear occurrences with smartphones I was guessing were courtesy of the Marathon partners Huawei on their Kabangali’s (police pickups). Food was also in plenty served by MTN’s Hello Food.
The participants were also treated to a music and dances session graced by Pallaso, Toniks, Juju, name them. There after the awarding ceremony was conducted and winners awarded prices according to positions by CEO Brian Gouldie.
Here is a list of some race winners: 21km women and 21 km men Chebet Emily, Kwemoi Charles Chebet, Rachael Chipsang, Isaac Chemudatai, Doreen Chemonges Felix. 10km Men Cherop Alex, Mande Abdallah, Kiisa Stephen. there was also one disabled person who participated was also awarded a cash prize…
