Yesterday, the Kampala International University health camp was officially opened. Professor George Kasinyama represented the University to welcome people who came for medical check up. The health camp was massively flocked by Kansanga residents who turned up in bigger numbers compared to KIU students most especially in the morning hours.
Contrary to the planned 5:00 PM closure time, the overwhelming big numbers forced the organizers of the health camp to close the registration at 4 PM as the health providers could not handle the ever increasing number. Over 600 people including both KIU students and Kansanga residents were registered on the first day of the health camp.
The event had many medical services including testing and vaccinating Hepatitis, Male circumcision as well other medical check-ups and treatments. It is now official that KIU will be organizing this health camp every year as one of its kind in the Ugandan education sector.
Apparently, Kampala Capital City Authority will come on board as a sponsor next year joining this year’s sponsors including Health Advocacy Group, NBS, Blue Wave among others.
