Youth leaders from Kanungu District have started mobilising University students in Kigezi region to support the former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi for presidency.
The Kanungu youth council secretary Apollo Twinamatsiko says that they have already mobilized several university students and other students Kigezi region to support Amama Mbabazi because “he is a good national
leader.”
Twinamatsiko adds that they are targeting least 200 university students to join the campaign to vote for Amama Mbabazi if he stands
for presidency, whether he makes it through the national conference or
not.
His revelations followed the humiliation suffered by Amama in both the CEC and NEC committee.
Meanwhile, as you read this the second National NRM conference is sitting at Namboole to discuss among other things to front the
president as a sole candidate for the position of the party’s chairman.
They will also discuss a proposal that seeks to grant more power to the party chairman to appoint and dismiss the party secretary general.
