Campusbee has learnt that the Etoffali drive will be going to the Nakawa based University MUBS this week.
With a spearhead of the Nkobazzambogo, a cultural group that brings together Buganda students at the University, Katikkiro Charles Peter Maiga agreed to go to Makerere University Business School to collect the student’s etoffali. In a letter addressed to the Dean of Students and the Nkobazzambogo cultural group that this website has seen, the office of the Prime Minister (Katikiiro) of Buganda responded to an earlier request by the group to host the Katikiiro at the university. Asked about his intention to invite a high-profile personality of that caliber, Nkobazzambogo leader exclusively told Campusbee that some ‘hard-core’ Baganda felt they had not yet fulfilled their pledge of contributing the etoffali and wanted to feel the ‘pleasure’ and ‘honor’ of doing so.
All students and administrators will surely be catered for and even the ‘Kikumi Kikumi’ students will have a basket where to place their etoffali, said the cultural group leader. The exclusive etoffali givers have a check-book where to offer their grants that has been going around for a while!
The Katikiiro according to the cultural leader is expected to be the guest of honor at the hand-over of the Nkobazzambogo on Tuesday 5th May. When one word of the Katikiiro coming spread around campus, it was welcomed with mixed feelings. A one Allen doing Bachelors of Procurement and Supply Chain Management was overheard ranting about how she would rather stay in her hostel and sleep, contrary to this, was a one die-hard Muganda Ssemwanga doing bachelors in Commerce who has saved his upkeep to give etoffali.
In this era of ‘money drought’, we can only hope the Katikiiro won’t leave Nakawa with a sack of pledges from the students. Campusbee will keep you posted!
