Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has said that it will shut down all substandard hostels around top universities in Kampala. The KCCA Executive Director, Jennifer Musisi on Monday said that hostels have a given standard expected of them like security, water, electricity among others.
“We have instituted inspections on all hostels around public universities in Kampala. Hostels of residence in Makerere, Kikoni, Nakawa, Banda, KIU Kansanga and Ndejje must meet the required standards and guidelines to ensure that our children are living in a condusive environment,” Musisi said.
This comes after KCCA did inspections in Primary and Secondary schools to check on the standards of the institutions of learning….and now it is time for inspection of higher institutions of learning.
“We will inspect all hostels to ascertain their status. Expect us to close down all hostels that do not meet the standards,” Musisi is quoted.
