Two Ndejje University students including a guild minister are battling for their lives after Kifeesi gangs attacked and hit them leaving one unconscious and both robbed off all their property.
The students identified as Bwanika Derrick, a guild minister in charge of internal affars, also civil year three student at Ndejje main campus in Luwero and Don Akatukunda, a student offering IT second year and the current Rotaract Ndejje club president.
The two were attacked by thugs on separate days within Kampala. Bwanika was hit by iron wielding thugs who took off with his phone, money and other belongings near his home in Rubaga. The goons hit Bwanika on the head leaving him with a swollen eye and a broken limb and elbow. Unconscious, Bwanika was picked by good Samaritans who rushed him to Lugaba hospital were he is currently receiving treatment.
According to the doctor handling his case, his condition was worse when he had just been brought with inability to rise up on his own or see clearly as his eyes and head were all swollen although there is some slight improvement as he is now able to talk .
Don Akatukunda was however attacked by similar goons last week who broke his arm and made off with his iPhone, important documents and unknown sum of money which he was carrying in his bag.
Akatukunda is fairing and responding well to treatment although his arm still remains fitted in a slung.
The current guild president of the university Mwaka Sixtus expressed disappointment about the security of the nation .
“It’s very annoying that the government of Uganda can not protect its young citizens from these kifeesi goons. I met Bwanika a day before he was attacked as he discussed with me his travelling ideas for the coming week. Now look he’s there unconscious, its so sad. All our prayers are with those students,” the peeved student leader said.
Akatukunda is however receiving treatment from his home while Bwanika remains lying in Lubaga hospital. Campus Bee urges students to be very vigilant of thieves and avoid lonely movements especially late in the night during this holidays.
