Kisubi University (UniK) also known as Kisubi Brothers’ University will for the first time host this year’s 18th edition of the renown Inter University Games. The university was nominated by the current committee of the Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) also known as Inter University Games after inspection of the university’s spacious sport facilities.
The games were launched on 2nd of May this year with the signing of attribution contract between the university and the sports committee. This year’s games will take place in the December break and are expected to start after first semester exams. Last year in the 17th edition of the games, Ndejje University scooped majority of the medals thus winning the competitions while Uganda Christian University (UCU) came second with MUBS following in the third position.
Although in the previous years, University of Kisubi did not participate in the games, the organizing committee at the Kisubi Campus remains very optimistic that for once they will take the title from long time champions Ndejje University.
The Inter University games last year had a total of 17 universities which participated in the games involving 18 disciplines. However this year, more universities are expected including Muni University, YMCA, All Saints University, Muteesa Royal, Lira University, Cavendish University and Clarke among other new universities expected to take part in the games. Over 25 universities are expected with so far 21 already confirming their participation.
This year’s edition of the games will run from 15th December to 20th December 2019 under the theme “Celebrating Sports and Science Innovation” with the final award ceremony crowning the event as well as departure of the teams that very day.
