Kampala International University (KIU) Western campus has installed a state of the art CT scan at its teaching hospital situated in Ishaka Bushenyi.
KIU-Western campus mainly focuses on teaching medical courses and its students have been of a great help to the people of Bushenyi and the neighboring parts of Western Uganda.
In order to strengthen in the health services provided by the institution, a state-of-the-art CT scan was bought with an aim of offering quality services to prospective patients.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Isma Bagaga, The 16-slice Toshiba Alexion 4 CT scan is the only one of its kind in the greater Bushenyi sub-region.
“It is a newer model, its output is very good and very clear, and it has timely delivery. After your scan is done, you receive your report immediately. It is very important for people to know that we have such a very high-quality equipment which can help solve their health issues,” Bagaga revealed.
Benjamin Habaasa, a senior technologist in the radiology department of KIU said that the scan, being one of a kind in the area will act as a teaching tool for undergraduate and postgraduate students in institutions around and save more lives of Ugandan especially the accident victims.
CT scans detect bones and joint problems like complex bone structures and tumors. The scans help doctors to spot health problems such as cancer, heart diseases, revealing internal injuries and bleeding resulting especially from car accidents.
