Remember a few weeks back when a Parliamentary committee on health with Dr. Atwine Diana, head of health monitoring unit in the office of the President, raised concerns about KIU and passing out half-baked Medical practitioners?
Well, medical experts from the Joint East African medical and dental practitioners council have spoken out stating that they’re satisfied with the developments at the medical school. This comes after they advised the KIU medical school stake holders in November 2015 when members of the joint board last visited the premises. They had a few recommendations including the teaching standards at the Bushenyi based school of health sciences.
“We are happy with the new developments that have happened within a short period of time and we are satisfied,” Prof Joel Okullo, the chairperson of Uganda Medical and Dental Council, who was part of the team, told journalists in Bushenyi last Thursday.
The team of medical experts included Prof. George Magoha, chair Kenya medical practitioners and Dentist board also chair of the joint board, Prof. Okullo Joel, chair Uganda medical practitioners and Dentist board also Vice chair of the joint board, officials from Zanzibar, Rwanda and Burundi.
