Kampala Iinternational University (KIU) is all jovial after a deserving win over Makerere University in the Inter University Unwanted Witness privacy moot’ on Friday.
KIU’s finalist Jonathan Areeba stole the show as he claimed the best Oralist award, leading his team to glory.
“I feel very happy, it is a dream come true,” Areeba said after being announced champion.”I have always desired to achieve that award,” he added.
Apart from Jonathan Areeba’s exploits, his teammate Marion Akankwasa was equally extraordinary in her submission and their combination made team KIU unbeatable in Friday’s moot final.
“I wish to thank my teammate Marion and our trainers who have relentlessly trained us that is miss Comfort Ndagire Vanessa and Swalleh Hemed Wengo I know very well that my success is equally theirs,” Areeba acknowledged.
The Inaugural Unwanted Witness Inter-University Privacy Moot Court Competition happened at Makerere University with the hosts coming out second best.
The inter-university privacy moot court competition was a learning platform to prepare young professionals for the emerging roles in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The moot was in a bid to train young legal professionals with expert knowledge of data protection laws, policies and regulations and to further develop their oral, written, analytical, logical, and legal technological skills necessary for this growing sector.
The Unwanted Witness, Uganda is a civil society organization (CSO) that was established to respond to the gap in effective communication using various online expression platforms.
