Kampala International University (KIU) has signed a partnership agreement with Chinese colleges that will enable students get diplomas from Chinese colleges without having to board a plane.
The agreement was signed on May 18th, 2022, with Chonqing Jianzhu College, Henan Open University (Zhengzhou Vocational College of Information Technology), Tianjin Zhongwu Education Technology Co Ltd all in China, and Sunmaker Oil and Gas Training Institute in Uganda for China-Africa TVET Joint Education Program.
Prof. Mouhamad Mpezamihigo, the vice chancellor at KIU said the partnership will help them develop better curricular and train students.
“With this collaboration, we are going to partner and develop curricular together, train and equip students. We also have staff and student exchange. This will lead to mutual benefit between KIU as the leading private university in Uganda,” Prof Mouhamad said.
The partnership comes with 3 years of advanced diploma programmes developed by KIU and Chinese colleges in road and bridge engineering technology, computer application technology and automobile inspection and maintenance.
Cathy Gong, the project manager at Sunmaker said they are happy to introduce the partnerships between KIU and Chinese colleges and hope for more international collaborations in the future.
“We are very happy as the coordinator to bring the partnership between these Chinese Colleges and KIU. We are hoping that in the future, we can get more international collaboration to help train the Ugandan talents.” Cathy Gong said.
Kampala International University Students will be awarded advanced diplomas from Chinese colleges without having to board to China with the best 5 students in each program getting a scholarship to attain a degree in their respective programs in China
