Kampala International University (KIU) has issued an official statement addressing growing media discussions and public concerns about the state of affairs at the institution, particularly regarding tuition payment policies, academic issues, and student welfare.

In a statement released by the university management, KIU acknowledged the ongoing conversations in the media but reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining transparency, fairness, and accountability in all its operations.

“As the top-ranked private university in the region, KIU remains committed to maintaining an inclusive, transparent, responsive, and conducive learning and work environment that upholds both academic excellence and institutional sustainability,” the statement read.

The university emphasized the importance of timely tuition payment to ensure the continuous provision of essential services that benefit all students, lecturers, and sponsors. It noted that while surcharges and late payment penalties are part of the policy, they are applied with fairness and empathy.

KIU also highlighted its bursary system, which supports needy students from different districts, and its clear complaint-handling procedure covering admissions, registration, tuition, bursaries, and academic assessments.

Recognizing the financial challenges faced by some students, the university encouraged those affected to engage the Directorate of Finance, Dean of Students, or respective College Administrators for flexible payment arrangements.

“Every concern is handled with understanding and professionalism,” the statement added.

The management further reassured the public of KIU’s dedication to upholding high ethical and professional standards, promoting fairness and non-discrimination, and strengthening collaboration among students, staff, and management.

KIU reaffirmed its commitment to academic integrity, transparency in grading, and efficient administrative processes.

“We encourage any student, parent, or stakeholder with a genuine concern to come to our customer care desk for assistance,” the statement concluded. “KIU appreciates the cooperation of all stakeholders in maintaining a community built on integrity, transparency, and commitment to quality education.”
