The academic community at Kampala International University (KIU) Western Campus in Bushenyi was thrown into shock on Saturday following the sudden death of Mr. Alinda Edson, a postgraduate student and former teacher at Mpanga Secondary School.
Mr. Alinda, who hailed from Kagote, was pursuing a Master of Education in Educational Administration and Management. According to eyewitnesses, he had been in a lecture room revising for an exam scheduled for 2:00 p.m. when he suddenly collapsed.
Fellow students and staff rushed him to KIU Hospital, where medical personnel made every effort to save his life. Sadly, he was later pronounced dead.
A university official confirmed the incident, describing it as a devastating loss. “He was a hardworking, calm, and focused student. His passing has deeply affected both his classmates and lecturers,” the source said.
Mr. Alinda was remembered by colleagues at Mpanga Secondary School as a dedicated teacher who inspired his students with passion and discipline. Tributes have since poured in from friends, former students, and educators who knew him personally.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course.
His passing has left both the KIU and Kagote communities mourning the untimely loss of a promising educator and scholar.
