As students from universities like Makerere, MUST, Muni among others are still enjoying their holiday and prepare to report back to their universities in late January, their colleagues from Kampala International University (KIU) western campus have resumed their studies Today 6th January 2020 for their second semester of the academic year 2019/2020.
To some of the students, this short holiday has been long to them and they were missing their fellow friends and the campus plot. The Guild speaker Rt Hon Nasser described this semester to be busy with interesting activities at their University.
He highlighted that most of the dominating activities are going to be done on a faculty level which include;
1.The inter faculty quiz, the first of its kind.
2.The inter faculty sports tournament which will take place in April following respective faculty tournaments.
And finally the head lining event of the semester being the Guild elections from which different faculties will vote for their new leaders and representatives in the Guild union.
Focusing on the business side, during the holiday most of the businesses in Ishaka town and it’s suburbs like Abuja closed down due to losses they were incuring in their businesses since 80% of their customers are KIU students.
This is due to the minimum sales they were making courtesy of excessively low population in the area during the period of holidays. The low sales had led to losses that some couldn’t bare thus propelling many to even temporarily shut down their businesses.
As campus bee we wish them a nice semester.
