Kampala International University Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Mpezamihigo has warned students at the university against neglecting the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) put in place by authorities to regulate the spread of coronavirus.
Prof. Mpezamihigo hinted on administrative action towards the defaulters in the circular to all students and staff of the academic calendar effective January to December 2022 for the KIU western campus.
“I remind each one of you that Covid-19 is still a big existential challenge that if taken for granted can limit the achievement of academic and life ambitions and goals. Please comply with all the SOPs and directives by the Government of the Republic of Uganda and those that are KIU Specific. Any breach of the SOPs will attract administrative action,” he noted.
However, what remains unclear is the magnitude and impact of the administrative action to the offenders. Students in most institutions of learning especially universities are prone to laxity in observing SOPs hence an unimaginable effort needed to enforce the policies.
Uganda as a whole is witnessing a surge in the daily covid-19 cases with an average a thousand cases since the year begun.
