News coming in from Kampala International University (KIU)- Western campus indicates that students are unhappy with what is taking place at the institution.
A section of KIU students have issued alerts to the administration that they will demonstrate against poor learning conditions and unfair policies like regulating the University electoral commission.
In a document issued by an anonymous source, the theme of the strike is to know the use of functional fees paid in pain.
“This is to inform all KIU that we shall come together and raise our voices on Monday 21st 2022 until the following issues are handled by the concerned individuals. And with that all students are called upon to participate so as our concerns are tackled,’’ the document reads in part.
According to the document, the following are the reasons that prompted students to raise their voices;
- Wi-Fi on biomedical and engineering blocks
- Free transport to and from hostels
- Freshers ball that’s worth an international university.
- The students say that the recently organized freshers ball was paid for which limited some first year students from attending to it.
- Use of political parties in guild elections
- Full participation of all students in voting for the guild leaders
- Non-functioning toilets in hostels and at campus.
