The high spirits that students at Kyambogo University woke up with to demonstrate against the age-limit removal and march to parliament have been cooled down by Military Police.
Wearing their blue gowns and red strips on their heads students led by former guild aspirant Bahati Fahad Majid marched around campus making chanting; “Togikwaatako, Togikwaatako ?” chasing students and lecturers out of lecture rooms.
The procession started from campus to Banda streets and shops were seen being closed as students lit wood and grass. Stones too were thrown on roads before police arrived.
Students joined Jinja road occupying the whole road which caused traffic jam and a lot of commotion that attracted police. As students were approaching Nakawa, Military Police intercepted prompting all students to take off. No arrests were made as all the procession leaders disappeared in thin air.
Calm here at the Banda based university has been restored as the students have paused the strike to go have lunch promising to resume after lunch.
