The Kyambogo University Electoral commission has extended the voting day to 17th March 2020.
This came up after the university administration claimed that they have not yet secured the money to run the electoral process. Different camps are now drawing back to redesign another strategy of utilizing the added time.
The FDC flag bearer, Mugisha Trust Nduwayo, has however not yet a slot among the fully nominated candidates. His nomination still stands pending after failing to provide proof for his normal progress from the academic registrar.
Regardless of the communications from the University senior legal officer and the dean of student’s recommendation to nominate Mugisha, the EC Chairman, Mr. Sembatya Exams says that the Electoral Commission ‘does not nominate candidates basing on the advice of University officials but rather constitutionally.’
In a letter addressed to the FDC flag bearer, he is given more time to be able fulfill what the university constitution requires of him or else get out of the race.
This has created a lot of propaganda in the different WhatsApp groups where the FDC propagandists claim that its Tundulu’s arm doing all this since he is a supporter of Mbaziira John.
It should be noted that the incumbent guild is responsible for electing a new electoral commission before it goes out of power.
There are however developing allegations that it is the FDC party that has asked for the extension of the elections in order to meet what is required of their flag bearer.
