Kyambogo University has yet again been sent into mourning after news broke on Thursday 28th May that Derrick Aijuka, a finalist student of Bsc. Accounting and Finance had succumbed to severe peptic ulcers that rendered him lifeless.
His death comes hardly two weeks after Elizabeth Nakiyaga, a second year student pursuing the same course at the Banda based institution also died. It is believed that Aijuka succumbed to severe peptic ulcers, at least according to a medical report from the hospital he was admitted. However, a section of his other colleagues believe that he may have died of food poisoning. This has casted a lot of mystery around his death.
Kaijuka was rushed to Mbarara Referral Hospital after complaints of what was at first severe stomach pain. The doctors, after prior assessment of the situation found that he was suffering from peptic ulcers. He was admitted in the hospital, where he spent about two days, until his death on Thursday.
Kaijuka has been described by his colleagues from both Kyambogo University and Ntare School as a very jolly, committed and sociable individual.
“He was very passionate about his studies, was humble and very down to earth. Death has robbed us of a very young and ambitious soul. We shall surely miss him,” a close confidant of Kaijuka commented on his death.
Funeral arrangements of the deceased are yet to be announced. May the soul of the deceased rest in eternal peace.
