Kigozi Ernest, a former student at Kyambogo University has issued out a notice to the institution to pay to him UGX 2 billion as compensation for delaying to avail to him his academic transcript.
Allegedly, Ernest completed his studies at Kyambogo University 11 years ago while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in development studies.
To date, Ernest claims to have missed out on various opportunities due to lack of his academic certification, a loss he estimates to be worth 2 billion.
Reliable sources indicate that Kigozi Ernest was enrolled at Kyambogo University in the academic year 2006/2007 with student number 06/U/2165/BDE/PE.
However, the reasons for the University to deny Ernest of his transcript are quite unclear but the plaintiff’s lawyers Nalukoola, Kakeeto Advocates and Solicitors say that their client has several times approached Kyambogo University to get his transcript in order to seek employment but all in vain.
“Our client has since then not got his transcript from the University without any justification known by the law,” reads the notice of intention to sue.
“You issue our client with the transcript and any other relevant documents including but not limited to the certificate of completion”
“Furnish in our chambers a sum of Shs 2,000,000,000 for lost income to our client had he commenced work and damages for atonement of told so far meted on our client,” added the notice.
The law firm has also demanded for Shs 20 million which Kigozi has so far allegedly incurred while instructing them. The University has been given fourteen days to adhere to the demands or get sued.
