A shop attendant in central Kampala business district has been kidnapped from his workplace on Kampala road by unknown armed men.

Mr Guludene, a recent Information Technology (IT) graduate from Kyambogo University, has been working at the shop in E-Towers for some time now. The family of the kidnapped man is now extremely worried about what may befall their relative whom they say has not been involved in illegal activities.

Andrew Musisi Guludene, a resident of Lungujja, Kampala’s Rubaga division, was grabbed from his place of work; Shop Number B02 on E-Towers building on Kampala road at around midday on Sunday. His whereabouts remain unknown.

Witnesses say the young man had just arrived at work when five gunmen, dressed in black uniforms associated with the Police’s Anti-Terrorism squad, stormed the place in the company of a woman and another man in civilian clothes.

The men grabbed Mr Guludene, bundled him into a car with tinted windows and sped away to an unknown destination. One witness, who asked not to be named fearing a similar fate, says men who brandished automatic rifles did not show their identity cards to the shop attendants or state the reason for arresting Mr Guludene. They claimed to be police Anti-Terrorism operatives.

The incident sent Mr Guludene’s workmates into panic and several hurriedly closed their shops, fearing they too could be abducted.

The alarmed workmates called Mr Guludene’s sister to inform her of the bad news. The unnamed sister rushed to Kampala Central Police Station (CPS) to report the incident and also to find out whether her brother was being held there.

However, officers at CPS feigned ignorance about the kidnap and advised her to check with the other Police Stations in Kampala. Accordingly, the sister frantically checked at several other police stations but received little or no help at all.

Since he was kidnapped, Mr Guludene has neither contacted his family nor have his captors notified his next-of-kin about where he is being held or his condition.

The worried relatives are appealing to security organs, other state authorities and Ugandans of goodwill to assist them find their youngest brother.

A Facebook post by one of the relatives appeals to members of the public who might have observed the incident, or knows anything about the kidnap of Mr Guludene, to share the information on social media.
