About two students who had just graduated from Kyambogo University were involved in an accident that happened on Northern Bypass at Nambole roundabout Thursday evening.
The yet to be identified students were rushed to Mulago hospital for treatment after surviving the accident that claimed at least two lives.
The accident happened after a driver of a truck M/V reg no UBD 520H failed to brake and rammed into 13 cars and two motorcycles. The driver that was transporting maize from Nalya to Nambole is said to have been overspending.
At least two people have been confirmed dead in the accident, these include a man and female passenger all yet to be identified.
SP Kananura Michael, community liaison officer for the director of traffic and road safety confirmed the deaths in a statement.
“Two people have died in an accident involving M/V Reg. UBD 520H Fuso Box Body, thirteen (13) other cars & two (02) Motorcycles which happened this evening 7/12/2023 on the Northern Bypass- Namboole Round about at about 07:00pm,”he said.
All injured passengers were rushed to Gwarilo and Mulago hospital for treatment and the bodies of the deceased were taken to Mulago city mortuary.
The Motor vehicles which were involved in the accident have been towed to Bweyogere Police Station pending Inspection while investigations into the cause of the crash have kicked off.
