Among the 7,501 students that have graduated from Kyambogo university , Kakooza Derrick emerged the over all best student after scoring a CGPA of 4.90.
Kakooza Derrick a student who has been offering bachelors of food processing and technology hailing from the faculty of science was today recognized as the best overall student by the university chancellor, professor John Mary Ssebuwufu.
Kakooza hails from Mubende district and he attended Mubende Army Primary School where he scored 9 aggregates, later moved to St Charles Lwanga Secondary School where he scored 15 points at O’Level and offered PCB/M in A-level scoring 20 points.
He was then offered a government scholarship slot at Kyambogo university to pursue a bachelors degree of food processing and technology.
When asked how he felt on discovering he was the best student in the whole university, he said he was overwhelmed with happiness.
“when i got the news that i was the best student , i was so overwhelmed , i cant describe even at this time ,my parents are so surprised ” Kakooza told our reporter.
he attributes this great achievement to God , loving what he was doing and also keeping good friends.
“It hasn’t been easy but trusting in God, I loved what I was doing at heart, I took every lecture and assignment serious plus keeping a good company of friends and my parents’ prayers,” he explained.
Kakooza Derrick was followed by Kyozira Samson Zedekiya who scored 4.83 and Turibamwe Martin who was the third best with 4.78.
